Amazon founder Bezos said he expects AI will produce "a labor shortage in the economy," rejecting fears that fast‑developing AI will simply replace human jobs. He is launching a project to boost engineer productivity and is co‑leading a new AI firm, Prometheus, which aims to build a "general AI engineer" capable of designing and manufacturing complex physical products such as jet engines. Bezos said the goal is to "empower engineers, making inventions and simpler faster so smaller teams can complete larger projects in shorter timeframes," and that while AI will reduce labor demand for some existing roles it will also create jobs and raise productivity; he added some youth pessimism about AI is "contrary to reality."

In Berlin on June 11, MOFCOM Vice Minister and deputy chief international trade negotiator Ling Ji met Germany’s State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the chancellor’s economic adviser. Ling said maintaining overall stability in China-EU economic and trade relations is important, warned there are no winners in trade wars, and reiterated China’s preference for dialogue to manage differences. He said he expects the China-EU trade and investment consultation mechanism to deliver practical results and urged the German government to play an active role within the EU to press the bloc to move toward China and bolster the stability and predictability of bilateral economic ties.
