The New York Times, citing two Iranian officials, reports Iran’s chief negotiator and parliament speaker Ghalibaf and foreign minister Araghchi will travel to Geneva to sign an agreement. U.S. Vice President Vance is reported to sign on behalf of Washington; the meeting would be the highest-level Iran–U.S. contact in 47 years. Iranian officials say the agreement will affirm mutual respect for sovereignty and a pledge not to interfere in each other’s internal affairs. Diplomatic relations were severed after the 1979 revolution and the U.S. embassy seizure.
