China and Switzerland held the sixth meeting of their China-Switzerland Economic and Trade Joint Committee watch cooperation working group in Shanghai on June 10. The Swiss delegation included the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry and representatives from the Swiss embassy and consulate; the Chinese delegation included the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, MOFCOM, the China Horologe Association, provincial and city watch industry associations and domestic watch firms. Delegates discussed watch-sector economic and technical cooperation within China-Switzerland FTA upgrade negotiations, agreed to upgrade the MOU establishing the working group, and committing to joint workforce training, leveraging trade fairs to boost exchanges, strengthening IP protection and improving maintenance services for customized watches. Both sides agreed follow-up implementation tasks and to continue using the working group to deepen bilateral watch-industry cooperation.
