French President Emmanuel Macron said France will not repeal its digital
services tax, noting it has been adopted by several European countries and is
part of French law: "This digital tax is a policy that several European
countries have already decided and implemented, and it is part of our law. It is
not for the United States to decide European or French law — that's normal. At
least as long as I remain in office, that will not change." The comments came at
the G7 in Evian after former U.S. President Donald Trump warned he would impose
100% tariffs on French wine if France does not cancel the levy.
