June 16 — NBS spokesperson Wang Guanhua told a State Council Information Office
briefing that rising costs have pressured some firms, with profitability
diverging across sectors and some mid- and downstream companies facing temporary
cost stress. Firms are responding with technology upgrades, tighter management
and market expansion, while authorities are rolling out targeted support,
large-scale equipment renewal and measures to cut energy and logistics costs;
effects are expected to emerge gradually. At the national level, faster
industrial output and a rebound in industrial goods prices have supported steady
gains: January–April revenue at industrial enterprises above designated size
rose 5.2% YoY (0.2ppt faster than Jan–Mar) and profits rose 18.2% YoY
(acceleration of 2.7ppt).
