China's Defense Ministry spokesman Chen Xi said the Philippines' defense
minister Teodoro and his relatives have been sanctioned by China, a measure
Beijing says is justified to safeguard its sovereignty, security and development
interests. Chen warned that allowing a small group of anti-China figures to act
unchecked would directly harm the Philippines' national economy and people's
livelihoods and damage bilateral military ties, and urged them to cease their
posturing.
