The European Parliament on Tuesday approved a US-EU trade agreement, clearing
the way for implementation pending final approval by EU member states expected
June 26. Under the pact the EU would tariff lifts on US industrial goods and
some agricultural products; the US agreed to cap tariffs on EU products at 15%.
The vote follows renewed US tariff threats from Trump over France’s digital
tax—he warned he would raise US auto tariffs if the EU failed to ratify by July
4. Disputes over metal tariffs and technology regulation remain unresolved and
could prompt further escalation.
