Ecuador President Daniel Noboa told a Mexican TV station on the 17th he sees no
reason to maintain the break in relations and is willing to restore diplomacy
ties, noting historically good bilateral relations and Mexican investment in
Ecuador. On April 5, 2024, Ecuadorian security forces entered Mexico’s embassy
in Ecuador and arrested former vice president Glas, who had sought politics
asylum from Mexico; Mexico subsequently severed diplomatic relations.
