A central-local meeting to advance an international science and technology
innovation center in the Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macao Greater Bay Area was held in
Guangzhou on June 18. Guangdong Party Secretary Huang Kunming said the province
must not miss the historic AI development opportunity; the Bay Area already has
relatively advanced mechatronics and AI capabilities and will accelerate AI
development. Guangdong will push integrated action on data, compute, algorithms
and applications, emphasize application-led adoption, use Bay Area scenarios to
incubate native technologies, products and services, strengthen key industry
platforms and continue to build out intelligent compute capacity to position the
region as a global AI industry innovation hub.
