June 17, 2026 — Liu Jinsong, director-general of the Asian Affairs Department at
China's Foreign Ministry, held routine working talks in Seoul with Nam Jin,
newly appointed director of South Korea's Northeast Asia and Central Asia
Bureau. They agreed to actively implement key understandings from recent
leaders' mutual visits to keep the China-South Korea strategic partnership
steady and long-term. Nam reaffirmed Seoul's One-China commitment as set out in
the joint communique at diplomatic normalization and said the position is
unchanged. Liu welcomed the reaffirmation and urged South Korea to revisit the
founding intent and act on the One-China principle to preserve the politics
basis of bilateral ties.
