Politico reports the White House on Thursday delivered to Congress the text of a
U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding. The document records a 14-point consensus
that would, at least temporarily, end U.S. military operations initiated by
Trump and continued for nearly four months. Congress received the text shortly
after Trump signed it in France Wednesday night; Vice President Pence later
briefed reporters. A Trump administration official read the memorandum to
reporters before it was provided to members of Congress, sparking strong
objections from many Republican senators and some House Republicans. White House
senior officials have held limited briefings and one-on-one calls with some
Republicans; a full briefing for all members is expected next week.
