UK consumer confidence held in June, with the GfK index unchanged at -23 and
still close to a multi-year low as a recent spike in energy prices linked to the
Middle East conflict worsens fragile household finances. Expectations for future
personal finances were unchanged, while measures of past personal finances and
of economic conditions ticked down. GfK consumer insights director Neil Bellamy
said the flat headline masks fresh signs of weakening beneath the surface.
