Early on the 18th Beijing time, US and Iranian officials confirmed their
presidents signed a memorandum of understanding. Some Iranians said they doubted
the US would comply, citing past breaches and warning the memorandum may not
produce lasting calm; others said they had little expectation of implementation
and feared the US could launch further attacks.
