FT reports several Iranian cargo ships abruptly left Malaysian waters and, after the US and Iran agreed to extend a ceasefire, are returning toward the Strait of Hormuz. FT’s ship‑tracking analysis shows six of seven Iranian-flagged containers vessels reported in Malaysian ports and waters earlier this week had departed by Thursday. Most of the departing ships have declared destinations in the Persian Gulf. Many Iranian vessels had been sheltering in Southeast Asia since the US began blocking Iranian home ports in April.
