The Israel Defense Forces said on the 21st Chief of Staff Zamir, speaking in
southern Lebanon at a meeting with commanders, said military operations in
Lebanon remains ongoing. Zamir said the IDF is fighting on multiple fronts and
continuing strikes against Hezbollah; he added some units suffered "significant
losses" with multiple soldiers and commanders killed. Israeli media reported on
the 20th that the prime minister and defense minister instructed the IDF to call
a cease-fire in Lebanon, but the army has not withdrawn from areas it controls
in southern Lebanon. Prime Minister Netanyahu reiterated the IDF will remain in
south Lebanon "as long as necessary."
