The National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration said summer grain
harvests are underway and market-season procurement has begun, with cumulative
wheat purchases exceeding 30 mln tonnes. Large-scale mechanized harvesting is
largely complete and buying is proceeding orderly from south to north, with
progress broadly in line with last year. Reserve firms are conducting rotation
purchases while processors, traders and feed companies are actively buying,
keeping market trade relatively active. Average purchase price in major
producing areas is about 1.21 yuan/jin (≈2.42 yuan/kg); premiums for
higher-quality varieties are roughly 0.10 yuan/jin. The administration will
coordinate market-based procurement and policy reserves, strengthen market
monitoring and early warning, refine extreme-weather contingency plans and
improve post-harvest services (drying, cleaning) to ensure farmer sale channels
and market stability.
