BOC Governor Macklem said Canada should return to growth after two quarters of
contraction, but the rebound will be modest. In a Q&A after a speech on global
imbalances he said the economy is very weak and that uncertainty from US trade
policy and high tariffs on steel, aluminum, autos and forest products is
weighing on activity, notably business investment, which has fallen for five
consecutive quarters.
