On the 23rd Lebanese President Joseph Aoun spoke by phone with U.S. Vice
President Vance and Secretary of State Rubio to discuss Lebanon’s situation and
progress after U.S.-Iran talks in Switzerland, the presidential office said.
Vance and Rubio reiterated U.S. support for the Lebanese government and
sovereignty and said Washington is following up on memoranda of understanding
from the Swiss talks, including creating a U.S.-Lebanon-Iran mechanism to shore
up the ceasefire and monitor implementation. U.S. officials said they are
reviewing the proposed mechanism’s structure and operational arrangements.
