A magnitude-6.9 earthquake struck offshore Iwate at about 07:30 JST on the 25th.
Kyodo, citing power companies, said Fukushima Daiichi, Fukushima Daini, Aomori’s
Higashidori and Miyagi’s Onagawa nuclear plants reported no abnormalities. The
Japan Meteorological Agency said slight coastal sea-level changes are possible
but a tsunami threat is not expected.
