The 17th International Conference on Agricultural Trade Policy convened at
Renmin University in Beijing. Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs chief
national veterinarian Tao Huaiying said rising unilateralism and protectionism
are accelerating a deep restructuring of global agricultural industry and supply
chains. She flagged the next five years will see complex, heightened
food‑security risks, overlapping drivers of agricultural price volatility,
simultaneous opportunities and risks for agri‑technology cooperation, strong
growth potential in agricultural services trade, and accelerated reform of
international food and agriculture governance. Tao urged using high‑quality
trade to safeguard global food security and market stability, support
technology‑driven development and full‑chain upgrades, and strengthen global
agricultural cooperation; she said China is willing to work with partners to
maintain open, inclusive multilateral trade and promote innovation‑led, green,
sustainable agriculture.
