About 1,000 Norwegian oil-service workers began a walkout early Saturday after
employers implemented previously warned escalation measures. The stoppage, in
response to an ongoing Safe union strike by several hundred members, is expected
to disrupt drilling on the Norwegian continental shelf and affect some
production. Companies cited as impacted include Schlumberger, Halliburton,
Subsea 7, DOF Subsea, Weatherford, DeepOcean and Baker Hughes.
