China’s foreign ministry said on June 30 it is willing to strengthen communicate with the EU to resolve trade disputes constructively after EU Trade and Economic Security Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič met China’s commerce minister Wang Wentao and the EU warned the current trade situation was “unsustainable”. Beijing said China and the EU are partners, not rivals, bilateral economic ties are mutually beneficial, and the root of the EU’s problems does not lie with China. China pledged talks on the basis of equality, respect and reciprocity and said it will work with the EU to safeguard global supply-chain stability.
