After the Supreme Court blocked President Trump’s attempt to remove Fed governor Cook, Fed Chair Kevin Warsh said the Fed has operated independently and will continue to do so and will abide by the court’s decision. He said he trusts Article III judges and the rule of law, that the ruling reaffirms the Fed’s commitment to impartial execution of its duties, and that the Fed will pursue reform goals and deliver Congress’s mandate to achieve price stability under the dual mandate — adding that if it achieves price stability, there is no need to fear political or judicial interference and the central bank can remain focused on its tasks.

Germany is urging the U.S. to allow more American weapons to be produced on German soil to plug European military shortfalls and give President Trump a reason to sustain U.S. defense engagement, sources said. German officials are in talks with U.S. counterparts and hope to seal a joint-production agreement ahead of next week’s NATO summit in Ankara. Negotiations between German and U.S. defense firms cover joint manufacture of systems including Tomahawk cruise missiles and PAC-3 interceptors for the Patriot air-defence system, and broader cooperation on measures to boost mutual defense capacity. U.S. government and industry reactions have been more positive than expected, sources added. The move is part of a wider European effort to deploy domestic defense industrial capacity to stabilize strained ties with Washington.
