The Financial Times reports OpenAI is discussing selling a 5% stake to the Trump administration; the AI firm is valued at about 852 bln dlr and is seeking administration financial support to remove political obstacles. CEO Sam Altman has argued public ownership is the best way to share AI gains and reports proposed this scale of stake in early government talks. The proposal would envisage other US AI firms selling similar stakes, though it is unclear if they would participate.
