Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Ahmad Vahidi appeared in
Tehran on the evening of the 2nd, state Supreme Leader office photos showed,
after earlier reports he had been killed in an attack. The images show Vahidi
seated beside the coffin at a small religious ceremony near the late Supreme
Leader Ali Khamenei’s residence ahead of Khamenei’s funeral. AP reported
Vahidi’s last public appearance was on Feb. 8, weeks before the outbreak of
fighting; he joined the IRGC after the 1979 revolution and was the founding
commander of the Sacred City Brigade.
