Prime Minister Mark Carney said the federal government has formally submitted a
proposal to the Major Projects Office to advance a West Coast oil pipeline
routing Alberta crude to the British Columbia coast. The project, to be
developed by Trans Mountain with Pembina Pipeline as a private investor, is
designed for about 1.0 mln bpd and aims to deliver Canadian crude to global
markets; Ottawa and Alberta signed an MOU in Nov 2025 and a project
implementation agreement in May 2026.
