The roughly €1.1bn shortfall reflected projects linked to the UK failing to meet strict eligibility rules France had promoted, the sources said. The disqualified work included projects involving missile-maker MBDA; MBDA’s UK and French units jointly produce the long‑range Storm Shadow missile used by Ukraine.

U.S. Naval Forces Central Command said on social media that the U.S. Navy suspended active search at 1500 local time on July 5 for a sailor assigned to Sea Combat Helicopter Squadron 5 who was embarked on the USS George H. W. Bush. The sailor went missing after an MH-60S Seahawk made an emergency water landing in the Arabian Sea on July 1. U.S. Navy and Air Force units conducted a large-scale joint search-and-rescue within CENTCOM’s area of responsibility for more than 102 hours, covering over 14,000 square miles, before ending active search efforts.
