On July 5 local time the Lalique Museum in Bas-Rhin, eastern France, was robbed;
about 20 jewelery pieces were taken and preliminary losses are estimated at
several million euros. Investigators said the theft occurred around 0600. The
The museum alarm was triggered and a cleaner who arrived first called police.
Officers found at least six display cases smashed and suspects had fled. Police
are reviewing CCTV footage. The museum has been closed temporarily. The Lalique
Museum, opened in 2011, houses glass art and jewelry by René Lalique.
