According to the German magazine Der Spiegel, life expectancy for both men and women in Germany has reached new highs. The average life expectancy for men is projected to reach 79.1 years, while for women it is significantly longer at 83.6 years, representing increases of 3 months and 2 months respectively compared to 2024. Meanwhile, a proposal related to life expectancy has attracted widespread attention in Germany. The German Pensions Council has proposed linking retirement age to life expectancy. If the proposal is adopted, a "2:1" rule will be implemented: for every year of increased life expectancy, an average of eight months of working time and four months of retirement time will be added.
