China’s Ministry of Transport said the China Central Meteorological Observatory
placed super typhoon Bawei at 05:00 about 1,650 km east‑southeast of Keelung,
Taiwan. Maximum sustained winds near the center are 60 m/s with central pressure
920 hPa. Radii: 7‑level winds 350–500 km, 10‑level 280–300 km, 12‑level 100–150
km. Bawei was moving west at 20–25 km/h, expected to turn northwest tonight with
little change in intensity and to approach the sea east of Taiwan. The ministry
activated a level‑4 typhoon defense response at 09:00 on July 8.
