SpaceX is currently ahead of last year's record-breaking Starlink satellite deployment. According to launch data compiled by satellite tracking expert Jonathan McDowell, SpaceX will launch 1,589 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit in the first half of 2026, compared to 1,489 deployed in the same period of 2025. In 2025, SpaceX deployed a record 3,180 Starlink satellites. Since the project began, SpaceX has launched over 12,400 Starlink satellites, with nearly 11,000 still operational. To better illustrate these figures, consider Amazon's nascent Low Earth Orbit (LEO) service: it has deployed only about 400 satellites in the past 15 months, while its planned constellation size is 3,232.
