Israeli startup Bright Data, one of the world’s largest web-data collection
providers, is launching a $1 mln bug bounty to incentivize white-hat hackers to
identify vulnerabilities, including in its own systems, the company said. The
move follows heightened law-enforcement scrutiny of how firms harvest internet
data and whether those methods pose legal or compliance risks for customers.
Bright Data said demand for its services has surged as internet data becomes
critical for AI model training; its CEO warned broader enforcement actions
against data-collection services could hamper AI development.
