This year’s ninth typhoon, Bavi, is forecast to make landfall on the night of July 11 between Xiapu (Fujian) and Wenling (Zhejiang), the National Marine Forecasting Center said. It issued a red wave alert and an orange storm-surge alert. The National Marine Environmental Forecasting Center said on the evening of July 10 that from July 10 through the afternoon of July 11 the southern East China Sea will see 9–14m waves; the northern East China Sea and the Taiwan Strait 4–6m waves. Offshore waters carry a red wave warning. Nearshore waters off Zhejiang and northern Fujian are expected to see 5–8m waves and have a red nearshore wave warning.
