UN envoy to Lebanon Jean Arnault met Iran foreign minister Araghchi in Tehran to consult on Lebanese affairs and the UN’s role in consolidating the ceasefire and ending the regional war. Arnault reviewed Lebanon’s situation and called for implementation of the US‑Iran ceasefire memorandum and enhanced regional cooperation to secure lasting peace, including in Lebanon. Araghchi strongly condemned what he called illegal US attacks on Iran, breaches of arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz, and Israel’s ongoing military actions in Lebanon, saying the US is responsible for escalation risk and urging the UN to adopt a clear, firm stance. He reiterated Iran’s full support for the Lebanese people, Lebanon’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and said Iran will continue efforts to end Israeli aggression and occupation of Lebanese territory.
