Overseas reports say Apple told suppliers to prepare to produce about 10 mln
foldable iPhones this year, above prior 7–8 mln estimates. The reports also say
Apple asked suppliers to reserve capacity to make 80 mln iPhones in H2 2026,
covering iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max and its first foldable, and that total 2026
handset output could exceed 220 mln. Multiple supply‑chain contacts expressed
caution. Counterpoint senior analyst Lin Keyu said a 10 mln foldable target may
be high and could reflect elevated component stocking; his current estimate for
2026 foldable shipments are about 6–7 mln.
