The US and Panama accused China of imposing punitive measures on Panama‑flagged
vessels. China’s Foreign Ministry said it places high priority on maritime
traffic and personal safety and, in line with law and regulations, conducts
port‑state control inspections on ships calling at Chinese ports, fully
consistent with international conventions.
