China foreign minister Wang Yi met Solomon Islands foreign and trade minister
Honeipwela in Beijing on July 14, 2026. Wang said China will pursue cooperation
without political conditions and will not provide "blank checks", and pledged
closer development-strategy alignment, promotion of high-quality Belt and Road
projects, and expanded pragmatic cooperation in green energy, education, health
and youth exchanges; he also called for stronger multilateral cooperation on
climate and international fairness. Honeipwela said China is the Solomon
Islands' largest trading partner, noted the two sides have agreed dozens of
memories of understanding, and expressed a desire to expand trade and
investment and deepen practical cooperation in education, infrastructure,
healthcare and green development to elevate bilateral ties.
