Data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that seasonally adjusted energy inflation in the U.S. fell 5.7% month-over-month in June, compared to a 3.9% increase in May. Specifically, commodity energy inflation fell 9.5% month-over-month, compared to 6.7% in May; gasoline inflation fell 9.7% month-over-month, compared to 7% in May; and fuel oil inflation fell 9.2% month-over-month, compared to 3.8% in May. Unadjusted energy inflation rose 15.7% year-over-year in June, compared to a 23.5% increase in May. Specifically, commodity energy inflation rose 27.1% year-over-year, compared to 40.6% in May; gasoline inflation rose 26.7% year-over-year, compared to 40.5% in May; and fuel oil inflation rose 42.9% year-over-year, compared to 58.9% in May.
