In an interview with the Financial Times, Li Ke, Executive Vice President in charge of BYD's international business, stated that even without access to the US market, BYD still has the capability to surpass Toyota in sales volume and become the world's largest automaker.
This statement suggests that BYD may further accelerate its expansion in the European market. BYD considers Europe one of its most important overseas markets.
According to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), as of May, BYD's market share in Europe more than doubled year-on-year to 2.8%, surpassing Ford, Tesla, and Nissan.
