July 15 — Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said at a regular briefing that
the United States has announced new sanctions on Cuba, escalating a fuel
blocking and broadening the scope of measures. Lin accused the US of maintaining
a comprehensive blockade and illegal sanctions against Cuba for over 60 years
that have inflicted severe harm on the Cuban people, and said the recent
measures have seriously hit basic livelihoods and drawn international concern.
China called on the US to heed international opposition, immediately end the
blockade and coercion, and stop violating the Cuban people’s right to
subsistence. China reiterated firm support for Cuba’s sovereignty, opposition to
external interference, and willingness to join the international community in
defending international justice.
