Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a regular briefing that 2024 is APEC
“China Year” and, as host of APEC 2026, China will stage more than 10
ministerial or other high-level events this year. The APEC Digital Week series
will be held in Chengdu, Sichuan — one of the heaviest and most fully scheduled
of the APEC ministerial events. Lin said the China Year process is over halfway
complete and cooperation across fields is progressing; Beijing will continue to
host and work to advance cross‑sector cooperation and build consensus ahead of
the leaders’ meeting in November.
