The Wall Street Journal reports U.S. officials say President Trump, after
several briefings with senior aids, is leaning toward expanding military action
against Iran. Options under consideration include intensified airstrikes,
deploying ground forces to seize Iran’s Kharg Island and other positions along
the Strait of Hormuz, and bombing a hardened site on Piksa Mountain suspected of
being used for covert nuclear work. Officials say U.S. strikes could also target
additional Iranian sites, including energy infrastructure. Trump has not made a
final decision and has said privately and publicly he prefers a diplomatic
solution; some officials say he is reluctant to send ground troops.
