Shanghai Meteorological Observatory issued an orange at 07:25 on July 16
high-temperature warning for central districts, forecasting most of the central
urban area to exceed 37°C today. Xujiahui recorded 38.9°C yesterday, the hottest
day since the start of summer. As of yesterday Shanghai has logged five
high-temperature days. The bureau warned of adverse effects on city operations
and public health and urged caution on fire and electrical safety.
