July 16, Shanghai — CHINA met with Kazakh President Tokayev, who was in China to
attend the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and the AI Global
Governance high-level meeting. CHINA pledged to deepen bilateral comprehensive
cooperation, with market-relevant steps including accelerating energy and
mineral project implementation; promoting trade innovation and optimizing trade
structure via cross-border e-commerce and services trade; expanding connectivity
by adding direct flights and easing international road-transport logistics; and
sharing digital-economy and AI technologies to support Kazakhstan’s digital
transformation. The two sides also agreed to boost cooperation in education,
science and technology, health and media and to stage a China-Kazakhstan culture
exchange year to strengthen long-term ties.
