WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said the Ebola outbreak in the
Democratic Republic of Congo has killed 796 and is spreading faster than
previous outbreaks. He warned some transmission chains remain undiscovered and
about two-thirds of cases are occurring in areas without specialized treatment
facilities. WHO has trained more than 21,000 community health workers to support
the response, and vaccine research and deployment have made positive progress.
