China foreign minister Wang Yi met Pakistan deputy prime minister and foreign minister
minister Dar in Shanghai on July 16 during the World Artificial Intelligence
Conference. Pakistan signed the agreement establishing the World Artificial
Intelligence Cooperation Organization; China said Pakistan’s accession aligns
with its long-term interests and adds a new dimension to the China‑Pakistan
all‑weather strategic partnership. China characterized AI as a strategic
technology frontier and said the new organization will seek international
consensus, advance practical cooperation and capacity building, help develop
countries—particularly the Global South—benefit equivalently from AI and avoid an
intelligence divide, and pledged to coordinate with Pakistan to promote
inclusive, AI-for-good development that supports developing-country growth and
global technological innovation.
