The launch window for the 13th test flight of Starship will open at 6:45 AM Beijing time today (September 17th). This will be Starship's first launch since SpaceX (SPCX.O) went public. The 13th test flight will continue to validate the performance of the next-generation Starship system and will be the first to deploy 20 next-generation Starlink satellites. The main objectives of the test flight include: the Super Heavy booster will focus on validating key aspects such as launch, ascent, first and second stage separation, reentry ignition, and landing ignition; the Starship spacecraft will complete the deployment of 20 satellites, attempt an in-orbit re-ignition of one Raptor engine, and conduct controlled reentry, descent, and splashdown in a predetermined area of the Indian Ocean. In addition, the mission will test several heat shield upgrade options to accumulate data for the comprehensive and rapid reusability of Starship.
