Beijing-based Moonshot AI on the 16th released Kimi K3, a 2.8 tln-parameter
open-source model — the largest currently available globally. Kimi K3 natively
supports visual understanding, provides a 1 mln-token context window and is
optimized for software engineering, knowledge work, deep research and multimodal
understanding to improve complex-task handling. In benchmark tests, Moonshot
said Kimi K3's overall intelligence approaches that of leading closed-source
models. The company said it used a self-developed base architecture and a full
set of scientific model-training methods in building the model.
