Suzhou’s 1H foreign trade (exports + imports) totaled 1.83 tln yuan, up 40.9%
YoY, outpacing national and provincial growth by 24.0 and 17.1 ppts and
contributing 14.4% and 79.0% to national and provincial foreign-trade growth.
Exports were 1.09 tln yuan, up 33.4% YoY; imports were 734.4 bln yuan, up 54.0%
YoY. Computer, communications and electronic equipment manufacturing led,
growing 68.4% YoY and accounting for 52.7% of the city’s exports. Electrical
machinery and equipment exports rose 19.4% YoY; electrical apparatus exports
were 56.05 bln yuan (+25.9% YoY) and household appliances 21.99 bln yuan (+13.6%
YoY). Pharmaceutical manufacturing exports were 12.15 bln yuan, up 87.6% YoY.
Among the so-called New Three items, lithium battery exports were 15.72 bln yuan
(+78.6% YoY) and photovoltaic product exports 4.94 bln yuan (+103.3% YoY).
