On July 18 the Ministry of Natural Resources, jointly with relevant departments,
deployed nationwide inspections of geological disaster risks and hidden hazards.
Provincial natural resources departments were instructed to coordinate with
local agencies, concentrate on frontline/local sites, prioritize prevention, and
mobilize teams to carry out inspections. The ministry directed checks of
important hazard points and key risk zones, increased inspection frequency in
critical areas, and intensified risk screening in the Three Gorges reservoir
area.
